Isabel Marant Shoes

Through the facebook-page of Moda Actual these shoes caught my eye.
I think they are really cool! A little bit out of budget though ($890) ;)

On the website where they sell the shoes, I also found Isabel Marant's Merry Sandal which I really like!
The brand Isabel Marant became really popular and was trendsetting with these wedge sneakers, when Beyoncé wore a black pair of these wedges in a videoclip. But I really don't like them! But, as happens with a lot of trends, I am getting more and more used to them :)

Which Isabel Marant shoes do you like?

Quiero! for EK 2012

I wrote 'EK' in the header of this post, which means Europees Kampioenschap, which is Dutch for European Championship. I did that because you need to be a little Dutch for this post ;)

Quiero made some very cool EK-jewelry. You can see it all by clicking on the banner on the right of our blog, or by going to the Quiero! facebook. Some of it is also available on my Etsy shop.

Here are some examples of this great collection:

Fred

This is an old post from my previous blog, but I think it fits right in :) I wrote this post in January of this year.

Since three years my boyfriend and I have the tradition to not give each other presents for x-mas, instead we go to a good (read: Michelin-starred) restaurant together. We've been to Ivy and Parkheuvel. Last Saturday we went to Fred
Fred's interior. This was exactly the view we had! :-)

We had three beautiful courses.
Starters:
- Creamy minced veal with gherkins and capers, a crispy sesame wafer, homemade pickles and langoustines lightly braised in olive oil served with basil & lime mayonnaise.
- Thin sliced Irish oxtail steak marinated in a dressing of vintage balsamic vinegar with homemade filet americain, crispy bacon parmesan cheese and horseradish.

Mains:
- Roasted sea bass with fried langoustine served with curry risotto and a langoustine crème
- Gently fried halibut served with a tartar of smoked Ijsselmeer Eel, beure blanc and beetroot

Desserts: I forgot!
One was a merengue with raspberries, poached rhubarb and a sorbet of yoghurt en lime.

All was delicious!!

Amarone - best restaurant in Rotterdam

I was very happy when my boyfriend took me to Amarone for my birthday. This Michelin-starred restaurant is my all time favourite! Of course I haven't been in all the restaurants in the city, but I've sure been in a lot. I've been at Amarone three times now, twice for dinner en once for lunch. All three times were awesome!
If you go there, my advice is to take the chef's menu. The last time one of us ate à la carte, but these dishes weren't as good as the menu. The food always tastes great, you can expect exciting ingredients, combinations and structures. I always take the menu of accomplishing wines, because a good meal is nothing without a good glass of wine!

The crew at Amarone is great. They know exactly how to adjust to their customers, so they don't make us feel uncomfortable with too much formality. And I just love how they re-fold your napkin when you go to the bathroom! :)

So if you really want to surprise someone you love, who loooooves good food & wine, take him or her to Amarone!

Amsterdam

As I wrote yesterday I discovered a lot of nice places. Last Tuesday I was doing the make-up for a photoshoot in Amsterdam (photo's will follow) with photography-student Noustha Koeckhoven.
I always love to be in Amsterdam. I like the vibe, I like it that there are a zillion different kinds of people there, and I like all the different spots there are waiting for me to discover them (while these spots are probably old news for people living in Amsterdam).

First I want to advertise for 'OV-fiets'. This is a bike that you can 'rent' on many train stations throughout the Netherlands. I took a subscription for the OV-fiets a while ago, and this was the first time I used it. This subscription costs €10 per year, and for taking a bike you pay €3 for 24 hours. A good deal I would say! It makes me feel free to cycle around another city, no figuring out how the public transport works and waiting for trams/busses/metros to arrive. Just go wherever I want to go!

I cycled through the Haarlemmerstraat to the 'Fotoacademie', where I had to be for the shoot. The Haarlemmerstraat looked great, I saw many cool shops and places that seemed good for lunch.

After the shoot I wanted to do some shopping for both my make-up business as for Quiero!
First I went to Backstage on the Rozengracht, a shop for professional make-up and theater materials. This was walhalla! Also when you're not a make-up artist, this shop is great to have a look!

On the Rozengracht there was also Coppenhagen, a bead store. Many kinds of beads assorted by color and material in glass jars on the shelves. I could spend hours here!

Another cool store on the Rozengracht is Kitsch Kitschen. This is an awesome brand with all kinds of bright colored stuff, you name it, they have it! See the pictures below to get an idea.

It's been a long time

The last message from Hanke has been a while ago! Since then enough has happened, has been spotted, experienced, etc. But... so much to do and so little time ;)

One of the things Hanke did, was working really hard on her magazine Bliss.

You can purchase Bliss in print or digital on this website.

I've been on holiday to Paris, which was awesome, and I will definitely post some of the discovered places! Further I've been very busy with Quiero! and with my make-up artist course.

More posts soon!
